Denis says, "Trade me right now!"

Well, okay. He says a bit more than that as most of us know. Forgive the poetic license, kids are reading this.
Let them ask their parents what Denis really says....

Today marks a new feature here on the old blogs. I say plural, because I'll also be doing this on Waxaholic, only with baseball cards. If you're here, and not there, you probably like hockey cards.
Nice how life evens out like that.

I need to start to do more trading. (Don't we all?) Busting wax is great, but the products out right now are, well, sub par at best.
Okay, they blow.
Rather than focus on a negative, I'll focus on a positive. Something new I'm trying.

I saw on another blog among the hundreds out there where someone posts a card, and asks you to trade for that card. If no one does, he adds another card , and another, etc... until someone bites and claims the pile.
I like that. I'm going to gank that. Only to avoid copyright issues from whomever is doing it that way, I'll add my own spin.

So here we go. The first additions to the Trade me right now pile.
a 1964-65 Parkie Tall Boy Paul Henderson. Settle down though.... it's from the 94/95 reprint set.

Wayne Gretzky from National Hockey Card Day packs a few years ago.

and of course a 2008/09 Artifacts Vesa Toscala

three cards. (see? nothing like that other blog)

THE RULES.

okay, they're not rules per se.... just what I'd like to happen.
Claim the pile in the comment section, then email me letting me know you want to swap.

WHAT I WANT IN RETURN

cards. Duh. Preferably off of my want list. The link is on the right hand side of the blog. You can send me one card (okay) or you can send me twenty cards (YAY!). But let's try to keep this at a PWE level.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU HAVE NOTHING I WANT?

if you really want the cards but do not have anything off of my lists, I'm always looking for cards for my player binders. Carey Price, PK Subban, Adam LaRoche, ..... wait. Adam LaRoche? Yes. I will take baseball cards in exchange for hockey, and I will take hockey in exchange for baseball. Mix and match folks. We're all friends here.
Send me an email, we'll work something out easy peasy.

How to turn a Diamond King into a Pop Up.

I don't really know how it came about... but Ryan Cracknell and I just completed a trade that sent a stack of baseball his way, and hockey mine.

I sent over 15 minty fresh Donruss Diamond Kings from various years, along with a few 2015 Topps Series 1, in exchange for some OPC inserts from the past few seasons. All sets that I'm working on.

First, some Pop Ups that of course, don't pop up. Or down. Or pop period.

then a couple of mini "V" series

and finally some OPC rookie Update cards that are only found in packs of Upper Deck. Yeah. Like that makes sense.

But wouldn't you know it....

All three of these...
are cards I already had. There was a failure to edit the checklist. Oops. Like that's never happened before.
Oh well, into the trade box they go.

Thanks Ryan.

a Zistle swap with LatentMoths

I've made a couple of Zistle trades recently. It's a great site and I need to get my cards updated on there soon so I can trade some more and finish off some of these sets...

user LatentMoths, a Bruins fan in Texas if you can believe it, sent me some cards I wanted in exchange for some cards I didn't want.

awesome.

I'll show off a few of them here to give you a sampling...

First up some random OPC cards from various years...

and a couple more....

but the key card for me was this
a '95/96 UD Collector's Choice card of Lyle Odelein.

I've had the Platinum parallel for awhile now, but could never track down the base. And now I'm one card closer to having all of his cards.

if any of you feel like swapping, check out my want list page or on Zistle.

Cardboard Ketchup - Ice Cold Edition

Continuing the story from Waxaholic, I'll put up highlights from two trade/gift packages... The first is from The Angels In Order. Yeah, I know. Hockey cards from a baseball guy in Texas who roots for the Angels. Go figure. But I'll take 'em. Tom said he could help with my quest to complete the '92/93 UD set, and sent over 22 cards off of my list.
I was wondering what Rob was smiling about,  and then I saw the half naked chick in the background.
for my Vancouver Canuck friends... Kirk McLean. This was the period when goalies still wore leather or 'leather look' pads, but had them colour co-ordinated to their team colours.
a Teemu Selanne Young Gun.... although I thought his rc was earlier..... Hmm.....

The next lot is from Casey of Drop the Gloves fame. We all know Casey is a Bruins fan, but we like him anyways. Although when the first card I saw out of the envelope was a Rene Bourque card, and then another.... I thought I had been Bipped.
But then Chipper appeared, and then the package really took off quality wise....
I saw that some of you recived cards from Casey at the same time and posted cards from the '70/71 Topps set. Casey must've found a shoebox in an attic somewhere, 'cause he sent me some too.

On Right Wing, the Roadrunner, Yvan Cournoyer

on Defence, sorry, I forgot it's American Topps. On Defense, Jacques Laperriere

his Defence Defense partner on the blue line, Terry Harper.
At Center, Ralph Backstrom.
On Left Wing, Pete 'Little M' Mahovlich.
we have a substitution! At Center, Jean Beliveau!

That is one hell of a lineup. If I could trade Backstrom for the Montreal Goalie in this set, Rogie Vachon.... it would be unbeatable.
Ah heck, put Backstrom in net and this lineup would probably still win the Cup.

Thanks for the cards boys!

Trade night scan post.... lotsa pictures!

time to show off the loot from last week's trade night. I'm too busy watching football sans turkey, so we'll go minimal chit chat, maximum scan.

First up, the free stuff. One of the best things about trade night is when people pull a card that they know you need, and they come find you to give it to you. Along with giving away a few cards, I received some. Here's my freebies....
2012 Parkhurst Champions Black and White Renditions Guy Lafleur
Colour Renditions Mario Lemieux.... great shot on this one...
2012 Upper Deck Canvas Carey Price. the scans don't show it.... but these cards are really cool and textured. A neat idea for an insert set. Paying attention panini??????
I pulled this next card out of my first pack of 2011-12 upper Deck Series 1. A Young Gun rookie of Montreal defenceman Rafael Diaz.
Rafael Diaz was born and raised in.......? Can anyone guess? Yes. That's right. Switzerland.

I also pulled a Canvas card of Shark Joe Pavelski. I gave it to a guy who was 7 cards short of the Canvas set. Later on he gave me one of his dupes.... Henrik Zetterberg.
I was lucky enough to get a couple more freebies. First, a Young Gun rookie of Alexei Yemelin, or Alexei Emelin, depending on who you ask.
and a Young Gun rookie of Aaron Palushaj...
I now only need Brendon Nash Young Gun for my Montreal team set.

These next six cards are from the 2011-12 Parkhurst set I'm chasing. I obtained these six cards in exchange for an Upper Deck Marty Turco jersey card from one or two years ago.
Eric Lindros Colour Rendition
Dale Hawerchuk from the original Jets
 Gordie Howe, no introduction needed
 Wayne Gretzky, ditto
a Black and White Renditions of Bobby Hull.... with teeth! Well, most of 'em...
and a wire photo of Ted Lindsay and friends.
These next six cards are for you "mini" buffs. I bought these from the card shop. I paid waaaaay more than I wanted to, but, what are you going to do? $8 got me these next six cards.

a mini version of Big Bird.
 a mini goon...
a mini sniper. 60 goals in one season!
 mini Royalty...
no, Eddie wasn't just released on a day pass... that's an old hockey helmet.
and a wire photo of the destroyer of franchises....
If you've been followiing along since October when I posted my Parkhurst box break... you'll remember me pulling this auto...
I ended up trading him for the following three cards.
A Big M, Frank Mahovlich on card auto....
a multi jersey rivalries thingie from ITG Decades.
and a Brian Skrudland auto, thrown in, just for fun.
thanks for staying with me this long, enjoy the rest of the football. and Go Cowboys!
