The start of another set....

As if I didn't have enough sets on the go, I decided to start another one. As most of you may know, the latest incarnation of In The Game's Between The Pipes was let loose yesterday. And yes, I will be as always collecting the base set. That's a given.
But what I'm talking about here today is an insert set within the main set. I'm talking about this year's version of The Mask set.
Marking their 10th anniversary, the mask subset is die-cut this year. Take a good look at Mr Lehtonen here, as my craptastic all in one non-scanner butchered the rest of them.

There are still rarer silver and gold versions to chase, but in a refreshing change, they are not die-cut. Only the cheap assed base ones are.

Cheap ass is where my collecting habits happen to live.

So I was able to pick up 6 of these plus a jersey card for the price of two packs.

a little more than I wanted to pay, but when product is new, you have to expect a little mark up.

When I saw this next jersey card come out of the pack, I knew I had to have it. Out of the 10 or so people watching, I was the only person who had any clue who he was. (No age jokes, please.)

Greg MotherEffing Stefan!!! How utterly obscure. I love it. I had to have it. Greg was a goalie for the Red Wings in the '80's back before they became good. His career ended in '89 after suffering a horrifying knee injury against Edmonton.
Oh, and he was the goalie on Wayne Gretzky's Pee-Wee team.

There was also a Doug Soetaert jersy pulled that I REALLY wanted.... but they wouldn't sell it to me because it also had some other dude on it named Roy. Patrick Roy. And they wouldn't cut it in half either. Go figure.
